Global Business 101

The old saying abounds “it’s an incredibly small world.” It certainly is in the sense of the ability to access information across the globe and the connectivity with business leaders and other important decision makers from every corner of the globe. This is more apparent than in global business, a term that includes any business or organization which conducts business outside of its home country.

Companies of all sizes must ensure that they are well-prepared to meet the challenges of global trade. This involves understanding the nuances of international business and being able to work with partners and colleagues from other countries.

The undergraduate Journal of Global Business and Trade JGBT, also known as JGBT includes reports, articles, and comments that are relevant to global business. JGBT is also an official journal of the Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE).

It is important to understand the ways that cultural differences affect the success of your company abroad and whether you’re a owner looking to enter global markets, or just want to ensure that your team is ready. This includes learning about the customs, holidays, beliefs and social customs of the various cultures that you will encounter in your international business endeavors. This is a great method to increase your “export intelligence.” It’s also useful to be able to communicate with business associates from different countries. For instance various cultures have different standards for personal space and greetings.
